DNN SEO Central Version History |
2.0.0 - 8/6/2009
NEW FEATURES
1. Home / Dashboard
Now the home page can be configured to display a dashboard with all the information drawn your current SEO campaign. We've added the following functionality to the dasbboard:
-
SEO To Do Progress - It tracks the amount of work you've completed in your SEO To Do list, showing a progress bar from 0% to 100%. By completing all the steps marked on the SEO To Do from 0 to 100, your DNN website will secure multiple Top 10 rankings in the major search engines for your target keywords. The progress bar not only renders a percentage, but also uses the following color code:
> Red - There's plenty of work left to do. Don't expect to have any Top 10 rankings in the search engines at this juncture.
> Orange - You can't stop working on your SEO, but you can expect to see a few keywords positioned in search rankings. Still, don't anticipate very high rankings.
> Yellow- You will see several of your active keywords with Top 10 rankings.
> Green - You've completed the bulk of your SEO work, earning numerous Top 10 rankings! Now, optimize on a keyword-by-keyword basis to rank as high as possible for each one.
-
ECI (Endo Competitiveness Index) - this value provides a current overall SEO rating (0 - 100 scale) for the website selected as your "Preferred alias for SEO." The ECI value looks at every single SEO-related aspect of a website (HTML page titles, meta tags, keywords in URL, keywords in domain, quantity of links, quality of links, images with ALT attributes, Google PR and many, MANY more factors). If the SEO of your website was perfect in every sense you would earn a 100 ECI Total score.
We've structured the index so that you'll never get complacent, and you'll always strive for perfection (though you won't realistically get there). Thus, the highest ECI scores we've seen are in the 80s. Breaking the 90 barrier would be an incredible achievement!
-
Top Ten Visits by Keyword (last 7 days) - Exhibits your top 10 visits based on keywords searched, also taken directly from your Google Analytics data.
2. SEO To Do (New Tab)
It's easy. You do what it says, check the box once you're done, and keep going down the list completing each step. Our SEO To Do list is built as a dynamic, interactive, very comprehensive list that will teach you what you need to learn (right when you need to know it). Moreover, it directs you to the most relevant Help sections and also sends you straight to the most appropiate module section - allowing your SEO to be efficient and action-driven.
Once you get to the end of the SEO To Do list (reaching 100%), you'll have amassed loads of Top 10 rankings in the major search engines, equivalent to an expensive, BIG-TIME, customized SEO service.
3. Module Settings
-
Added new functionality - "DNN SEO Central Geographical Settings" - to apply Google results per Google country search engine. We have added 139 Google search engines. This will apply to everything from determining organic rankings, running keyword research tools, to conducting competition analyses, etc.
Note: This allows you to conveniently e-mail customers automatically, every X amount of days (setup by you) with all the latest rankings they have.
- Added new functionality - "Dashboard" - that allows you to enable a dashboard that will replace the default Home page of the module, displaying your most important SEO data at a glance on one page.
4. Manage Keywords
The Manage Keywords tab has been completely rebuilt to give you more relevant data, quicker than ever. Now, the "Manage Keywords" tab will help you visualize, within 30 seconds, the REAL competition that you have on each specific keyword, giving you data that tells you where you have the possibility of ranking for it or not.
Now, each time that you add a new keyword, the module will automatically find and display the Google Anchor Results, Title Results, URL Results and Text Results with the Status, PPC Ad Competition and Avg. Monthly Searches for each keyword. Collectively, this accurately shows you, at a glance, the amount of competition that you have for each particular keyword.
If you click on any given keyword, we have added a "Mini Competition Analysis" that finds and gives you the most relevant data for each competitor. This analysis investigates the Top 10 Google Rankings for that specific keyword, and then carries out the AllinAnchor, AllIinTitle, AllinURL and AllinText Google commands.
5. Organic Rankings
6. Google Analytics (New Tab)
This new tab directly connects to your Google Analytics account(s), pulling the most relevant SEO data into one convenient place, AND also affording you the ability to run customized Google Analytics reports right from inside the module.
-
List Accounts: Shows all the accounts that you have created within your Google Analytics account. If you're an SEO consultant, for example, it helps you choose (in one click) all the Google Analytics data of one specific customer. Then, you'll select a date range and retrieve all the Google Analytics reports for that timeframe in one click.
-
Motion Chart: Displays a sleek, interactive Motion Chart graph from the Google Visualization API team, customizable by the following metrics... Source, Time on site, Pageviews, Bounces and Visits; with the ability to Trail selected sources over time and much more.
-
Custom Metrics: Here, you can create your own reports using combinations of the available data that we retrieve from your Google Analytics account(s). Potentially, that gives you the ability to generate OVER 300 (THREE HUNDRED) DIFFERENT GOOGLE ANALYTICS REPORTS, in one spot, right inside our module.
You can view a data grid and a pie chart of "X by Y" for your selected date range, where you can select X and Y from the following list:
X can be:

7. Reports (New tab)
Provides graphs that help you visualize your SEO performance at a glance.
The new reports are:
-
Best Performing Keywords Across Major Search Engines: Calculates the average positioning for all of your keywords and displays the keywords that have the best positioning across Google, Yahoo!, and MSN/Bing.
Note: Our calculation of the avg. monthly searches across the major search engines is based on the upper clicks per day reported by the Google Adwords API, times the avg. CTR, times the average traffic per search engine. Both the CTR and average traffic are pulled dynamically; however, by way of example, a CTR of 0.8% and a 70% total searches from Google, the formula is expressed as follows: ((UpperClicksPerDay * 30) / 0.8 * 100) / 70 * 100
8. New SEO Tools
Below is a list of new tools we've added to make your SEO more efficient. We've also deleted and changed most of the remaining tools.
-
Sitemap Generator: This tool generates, with ONE CLICK, the Sitemap.xml file directly in the root of your site (including all the pages of your DNN portal). The tool will grab the XML generated by the Sitemap.aspx file of your DNN instance, and then save it in the proper format as a Sitemap.xml file in the root of your website (in accord with the Official Sitemaps Protocol supported by all major search engines).
7. New Help!
Now an extensive help library is provided as webhelp and also as a downloadable chm help file.
